MJ Hudson Allenbridge are delighted to have been shortlisted as a finalist for the 2018 Professional Adviser’s Best Ratings/Research Service for Advisers award.
In total, more than 200 advisers, firms and providers have entered this year’s awards, which seek to reward excellence within both the financial advice community and among the broader financial services sector.
Now in their 13th year, the awards will also recognise the best in multi-asset investing, platform provision, adviser support and client engagement as well as crowning the Paraplanner of the Year and Adviser Personality of the Year.

Allenbridge appoints former Barclays Managing Director and Global Head of Origination, Prof. Antti Suhonen, as Director
Allenbridge, a leading, independent investment adviser to UK pension funds and part of MJ Hudson, the asset management consultancy, is pleased to announce that Antti Suhonen has joined as Director.
Antti has worked as an independent consultant and adviser to clients in the financial services sector, with a focus on alternative investments and financial markets. He also holds a position as Professor of Practice in Finance at Aalto University School of Business in Helsinki, Finland. His teaching and research interests include alternative investments, financial institutions, and fixed income and credit markets.
Antti previously held various derivatives structuring, product development, sales, and trading roles in investment banking over two decades. He was most recently Managing Director and global head of origination in the Equity and Funds Structured Markets business at Barclays Investment Bank in London, concentrating on alternative investments and quantitative investment strategies. Prior to Barclays, Antti worked at Bankers Trust in London and Union Bank of Finland (now Nordea Bank) in Helsinki and London. He holds an M.Sc. (Economics) and a Ph.D. (Finance) from Helsinki School of Economics and Business Administration.

Allenbridge Appoints John Harrison as Managing Director of Institutional Investment Advisory
Allenbridge, a leading investment adviser to UK pension funds, is pleased to announce that John Harrison has returned to the firm as Managing Director of the Advisory business. John Harrison is taking over the Managing Director role from John Arthur who will remain with the firm as a Senior Adviser, focusing on providing investment and strategic advice to clients.
John Harrison has worked in financial markets for over 35 years as a fund manager, consultant, adviser and academic. He spent most of his career as a fund manager, including 24 years at UBS Global Asset Management, where he was UK Chief Investment Officer from 2005 to 2010. Since leaving UBS, he has been advising a wide range of public and private sector pension funds, whether as a Partner at Aon Hewitt, a Senior Adviser at Allenbridge, a member of the multi-asset team at Henderson or through his own consultancy company.
John is a regular commentator on institutional investment issues at seminars and in the press, particularly in respect of local government pension schemes (LGPS). He is currently Independent Investment Adviser for the Surrey Pension Fund. He is also Visiting Professor in Charity Investment at Cass Business School, where he runs an investment course designed for large UK charities.

Allenbridge appoints John Bearman as a Senior Adviser
Allenbridge, a leading investment adviser to UK pension funds, is pleased to announce that John Bearman joins Allenbridge as a Senior Adviser.
John has 30 years of fund management experience in a wide range of asset management companies initially focusing on equities but over the past 10 years leading large multi asset investment teams.
Most recently he was the Head of Investment at FCA registered BPIM the in-house asset management team responsible for managing the £23bn BP plc UK DB pension fund. Whilst there he was responsible for over-seeing the day to day management of the portfolio across both the growth and liability matching portfolios including tactical asset allocation and investigating new asset classes and investment ideas. He was involved in the strategic asset allocation for the growth portfolio as well as defining de-risking stages. Over the past 3 years he led the implementation of the hedging strategy for the portfolio increasing the size and efficiency of the hedge ratio. Previous to BPIM he worked at Santander Asset Management where he was CIO responsible for a wide range of multi asset, risk adjusted portfolios for the Santander UK retail client base.
He has experience of managing internal investment teams as well as selecting and monitoring external managers and has invested in or analysed many of the asset classes used by large UK DB pension schemes. He also has expertise in investment business governance, compliance, risk and regulation.Â He has sat on and presented to a large number of investment committees and boards and worked closely with the BP scheme trustees.

Allenbridge appoints Steve Webster as a Senior Adviser
Allenbridge, a leading investment adviser to UK pension funds, is pleased to announce that Steve Webster joins Allenbridge as a Senior Adviser.
Steve has worked in financial markets for 27 years including 9 years working for the London Stock Exchange in market supervision and over 20 yearsâ€™ experience in Transition Management and Portfolio Solutions having managed these business lines at JPMorgan and Credit Suisse. More recently he headed Portfolio Solutions business development at State Street Global Markets.
Steve has managed and advised on some of the largest portfolio restructuring events undertaken in the industry.Â These include UK local authority allocation changes, global sovereign wealth fund exposure solutions, European mutual fund platform restructuring and has previously managed the Â restructuring of one of the Netherlands largest industry pension schemes. Prior to leaving State Street in 2016, Steve conceptualised and co-authored a paper on Event Shortfall (the measurement of pension fund decision making and implementation management).
